These are the intructions for joining the Blue Rock Twitter Group. This group is set-up so that pilots that are flying Blue Rock can send out conditions updates and comunicate about fying at the site. To set yourself up, follow the directions below and you will be able to send updates to the group as well as recieve others updates as SMS messages on your cell phone!

There are two parts to our system. The first part sets up an account on Twitter that you will us for flying only. The second part adds you to the WeFollow directory under Blue Rock so that other Blue Rock pilots can see (and follow) other group members.

Part 1, Dedicated Twitter Account:
– Go to www.twitter.com, read the instructions and setup an account at http://twitter.com/signup or if you already use Twitter, set up another account that’s for Blue Rock updates only.

– Setup your mobile device at https://twitter.com/devices FAQ about mobile phone access to twitter: http://help.twitter.com/forums/10711/entries/14014

Part 2, Add Your Twitter Account to the Blue Rock WeFollow Directory:
– Goto http://wefollow.com/add and follow the steps to add yourself to the “bluerock” wefollow directory tag. This will allow us to see (and follow) people who are posting updates

– Goto the bluerock tag on WeFollow and start following anyone you’d like http://wefollow.com/tag/bluerock

After you’re all set-up there are a few more things to do and know:
Make sure you turn on device alerts for everyone that you follow that way you’ll get thier updates on your phone. Do so as follows:
– From you Twitter homepage, click “Following” and in this list of people, click the lefthand icon under Settings column – green result means you’ll get SMS to your phone of that person’s updates. More mobile phone instructions at http://twitter.zendesk.com/forums/10711/entries/14020

And few more thinks you should do and/or know:

– On your Twitter Settings page choosing “Protect My Tweets” will help prevent unsolicitated tweets to your account.

– To send an update simply text it to 40404 (twitter’s text number). Everyone who is following you will receive your update.

– If you have a smartphone like the iPhone or Blackberry, you can even get a twitter app. for it. Check them out here http://twitter.com/downloads

– You can easily control who you get updates from by who you follow. You can also set twitter up to only send updates to your phone at certain times of day etc.

– The more people that set this up and send updates this way the more we’ll get to hear about conditions at Blue Rock.
